Gneeveguilla GAA Club – Eircode P51 W9KF

Gneeveguilla GAA club is located in rural East Kerry in the heart of Sliabh Luachra on the Kerry/Cork border. Our club was formed in 1960. We play our football at the Paddy O Leary Memorial Park. We won our first East Kerry O Donoghue Cup in 1979 just a short 19 years after club was formed and retained the title the following year. In 1980 Gneeveguilla won the Kerry County Club Championship defeating Castleisland Desmonds in the final after a replay. In 1983 Gneeveguilla again won the O Donoghue Cup defeating Dr Crokes in the final.

In 1984 Our club man Ambose O Donovan captained had the honour of captaining Kerry senior team. On September 23rd 1984 Ambrose walked up the steps in the Hogan Stand to lift the Sam Maguire Cup in the centenary year of the GAA.

In 1985 our minor team made history on winning the County minor championship defeating South Kerry 1 06 to 0 07.
In 2003 Gneeveguilla 20 years on from their last triumph in O Donoghue Cup defeated Kilcummin 1 11 to 0 12 in the final.

In 2010 Gneeveguilla won the the Kerry County Intermediate final defeating Finuge 1 06 to 1 05. Gneeveguilla went on to win Munster championship defeating St Brackens in the final before losing out to St James in the All Ireland semi final.

In 2020 junior we were defeated by Ballydonoghue which was played in 2021 before going on to win the the 2021 junior championship defeating Skellig Rangers in the final, while defeating Ballina Munster Junior final. We made the All Ireland final only to be defeated by Kilmeena after extra time. Unfortunately not the result we were looking for but our journey to get to Croke Park is one of highlights in its short history.

We are currently an Intermediate team in Kerry Club Championship and in Division Two of the County League.
